Extended Access Appointments
We are increasing the number of appointments available for you to see a GP in the early mornings, evenings or at weekends across West Leicestershire.
Depending on your individual circumstances and symptoms, we may offer you an ‘extended access’ appointment. Please note however, that these appointments will not be in your usual GP practice and may not be with one of your usual GPs or nurses.
Depending on the reason for your appointment, and if you are in agreement, it may be suitable for you to see an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, instead of a GP.
The clinician you see will be able to access relevant sections of your medical notes and will communicate what has happened during your appointment back to your usual GP practice.
These appointments will be available at the following locations:
- Loughborough Urgent Care Centre at Loughborough Community Hospital
- Coalville Community Hospital
- Hinckley and Bosworth Community Hospital
If you would like to know more please visit the CCGs website www.westleicestershireccg.nhs.uk/latest-news/268-extended-access-appointments
Book Appointments Online - THIS SERVICES HAS BEEN SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
This facility is for the booking of straightforward appointments with a GP. At the moment we are not booking the Nurse Practitioners, treatment room, blood tests or clinics via this method. In order to use the Internet booking facility you will have to come into the Health Centre to register. Once setup you will be able to see which appointments are available, book yourself one and cancel and check booked appointments, even if they have been made over the phone or in person.
If you wish to speak to a doctor but do not actually need to see them in person you can ask to have the doctor telephone you back rather than you coming in to surgery. The doctors usually do their call backs during and at the end of morning surgery. Therefore if you would like a ring back please telephone before 11:00. These are particularly suitable for:
- Prescription queries
- Continuing sickness certificates - for example where you have seen a doctor earlier in the week and still feel unwell, but do not need to see the doctor again in person
- Results of investigations - the receptionists can give you results if they are normal, no action. In other cases you will be asked to make an appointment to see the doctor, or if you prefer, you can ask for the doctor to telephone you to discuss your results.
- In other circumstances where you feel it is not necessary to see the doctor then you can ask for them to call you back. Sometimes after speaking to you the doctor may decide they would like you to come in and see them and in this case they will book you an appointment.
Please note this is nothing to do with the Ring back facility provided by BT on home phones. You have to speak to a receptionist here in order to book one of these call backs with the doctor.
This allows you to request medical advice using your smartphone, tablet or PC. You are asked a range of questions based on your symptoms. Please do not use this service if your symptoms are deemed to be life threatening. The practice will review your request and we will communicate with you through the software or by calling you back. You may be asked for further information, offered advice, a prescription or appointment arranged, please click here.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
