New cancer information launched on World Cancer Day

People living with and beyond cancer in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) are set to benefit from support and advice at their fingertips thanks to a new app.

Launched on World Cancer Day (4 February 2022), the LLR Cancer Information app has been developed by local NHS cancer specialists to support local people living with cancer as well as their families, friends and carers.

The app includes information about treatments and side effects together with health and wellbeing support. It also offers a range of information on how to access local community support as well as more practical advice on topics like money and finance.

The app was developed in partnership between patients, clinicians, people from the voluntary sector and local NHS organisations, including University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and the LLR IBC's.

By 2030 it is estimated that there will be over 50,000 people living with and beyond a cancer diagnosis in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

The LLR Cancer Information app is free to download and available for mobile and tablet devices on the Apple and Android app stores.
